Centre Opens

7:15-8:30 a.m.

Children will engage in free play.

Free play is an important part of a child’s development and supports How Does Learning Happen. It involves activities based on the children’s interests.

They are given the opportunity to engage in cognitive and manipulative toys as well as dramatic play. Educators plan for activities such as art, science and dramatic play.

 Learning social skills, problem solving and self-help skills are an important part of free play. 



8:30 a.m.

Bathroom routine.



8:45 a.m.

Snack routine. Children will be provided with a nutritious snack.



9:00 a.m.

Time to get ready to go outside!

The children explore the outdoor environment on their own or with their friends. 

During this time, the activities in which they engage help to develop the four How Does Learning Happen Foundations (Expression, Well Being, Engagement and Belonging).

The children will develop their gross motor skills by engaging in activities planned by the Educators and discovering the climbers, tricycles and their own physical abilities.

In the warmer months indoor programing can be brought outside.



10:45 a.m.

Come in from outside, undress and bathroom routine. Children are encouraged to develop their self-help skills, which in turn, builds on their self-confidence.




11:00 a.m.

Group circle time.

A group activity time is provided where the children are invited to sit together to sing songs, read stories based on the interests of the children and extend their learning.



11:30 a.m.

Lunch time.

Children are provided with a healthy meal that follows the Canada Food Guide.




       12:00 - 2:15 p.m.                           

Rest time.

Children are settled on to their cots with low lighting and soft music playing.

Children who do not sleep are given the opportunity to participate in quiet activities on their cot.



2:15 p.m.

The children slowly wake up.  Bathroom routine



2:30 p.m.

Snack routine. Children will be provided with a nutritious snack.



3:00-5:30 p.m.

Children engage in child-led free play inside and outside.

We encourage this process by providing open-ended materials that spark a child’s curiosity to learn and develop. 

Educators foster learning through play by extending discovery through questions and inquiry to promote thought and curiosity.

5:45 p.m.

Centre Closes

Schedules vary from time to time according to the needs of the children, weather conditions and program variations.
