Resource Worker

City View Centre for Child and Family Services –   requires a full time Registered Early Childhood Educator to fill the position of Family Resource Worker in the EarlyOn program and Educator in the Nursery School program.  This is a unionized position.

Monday to Friday         35 hours per week (some Saturdays and evenings required)      

Starting Salary:            $21.30 hourly


Includes, but are not limited to:                                                                      

  • Deliver core services as required by the Ministry of Education and the city of Ottawa
  • Supporting the needs of parents/caregivers and children 0-6 years in the communities of Nepean-Carleton through drop-ins, workshops and information and referral
  • Occasionally working off site to facilitate groups for parents and children
  • Work two mornings a week in our nursery school program
  • Write reports/observations
  • Support ratios when needed
  • Replace staff when needed


  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent
  • Registered with the college ECE in good standing
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR – Level C
  • Valid Police Records Check for Service with the Vulnerable Sector completed in the last 6 months 
  • Min. 3 years’ experience working with young children in a group environment
  • Familiarity with the ELECT framework and the How Does Learning Happen document an asset 
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones for ages 0-6 years
  • High level of professionalism and tact
  • Strong team communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of the community, information and resources
  • Knowledge of the philosophy of Early Years activities (playgroups, resource services)
  • Computer literate (Windows 8, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft)
  • Experience relating directly to parents/caregivers
  • Experience with and sensitivity to all cultures and socio-economic groups
  • Ability to be flexible with changes  


  • English is mandatory and second language would be an asset
  • Availability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Able to travel to off site locations to deliver programs
  • Oral and written fluency in English 
  • A reliable vehicle
