Range of Services

Information and Referral

Early Childhood Educators are available on site, by phone or email to answer your questions or refer you to the appropriate resource.

Drop In Playgroups

Our services include a wide variety of drop-in playgroups at our main site and at off-site locations throughout our riding.  Our playgroups are facilitated by Early Childhood Educators and consist of early learning activities which are based on the Early Learning for Every Child Today: A framework for Ontario early childhood settings (ELECT) principles.  The following are some examples of the variety of playgroups we deliver:  francophone playgroups, playgroups in the park, interactive parent-child playgroups focusing on early literacy and mathematics, and a playgroup for children with special needs. Playgroups allow parents the opportunity to participate in activities with their child/children, network, and share their experiences and expertise amongst each other.

Workshops/Parenting Groups

Our topics are determined by the need and interest of parents and caregivers.  Some examples of previous workshops are: Infant Massage, Guiding Your Child’s Behaviour, Picky Eaters, Navigating the Child Care Jungle and school readiness programs such as School’s Cool and Backpack Adventures.  Check our calendar for upcoming dates and topics.

Resource Library

A wide range of educational books and videos focusing on early childhood are available for loan.

Ottawa Best Start Network
