Toddler

Program Information

  • The ratio is one (1) educator for every five (5) children.
  • Average age of children in this group is 18 months to 2.6 years.
  • There are fifteen (15) children in each toddler room.

Meals

Fresh, nutritious meals and snacks are prepared on site daily, by our chef John Sheridan. John is a graduate of Algonquin College and has numerous years of experience in the food industry.  Our menu provides a three week rotation of meals and snacks which follow the Canada Food Guide.  We are a “Nut Free” facility.

Rest Time

The toddlers nap in their room from 12:00 to 2:15 p.m. Each child is assigned their own bed and blanket, which is placed in the same place everyday to ensure consistency. The bed sheets and blankets are laundered weekly. Children may bring their own blanket or sleep toy from home. Soothers are permitted in the toddler room during nap time.

Toilet Training

Parents will supply diapers/pull-ups and wipes for their child. In conjunction with a parent's efforts at home, we will work on reinforcing toilet training at day care. Children in this room may be between 18 months and 2.6 years of age, so toileting routines will depend on the age and developmental level of the child.

Outdoor Play

The playgrounds are inspected on a daily, monthly and seasonal basis by program staff and on an annual basis by a Canadian Certified Playground Inspector to ensure that the environment and equipment is safe for the children. Children are taken outside both morning and afternoon, weather permitting.
